FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What kind of qualifications do your teachers have?

A: All classrooms have one or two NC WORKS certified Lead Teachers. All our assistant teachers are in certification programs specifically for early childcare development.

Q: How do I get started applying for a subsidy?

A: If you are interested in applying for a childcare subsidy, the first step is to check with your local Department of Social Services (DSS) or Child Care Resource and Referral (CCR&R) agency to determine your eligibility. The eligibility requirements can vary by state and program, so it is important to check with the specific agency in your area.

Once you determine your eligibility, you must complete an application for the subsidy program. The application will typically require you to provide personal and financial information, such as proof of income and employment. You will also need to provide information about the child or children receiving the subsidy. Applications are available at your local DSS agency. More information can be found at this link.

After you submit your application, it will be reviewed by the agency to determine if you meet the eligibility criteria. If you are approved, you will receive a subsidy voucher or payment directly to the childcare provider. It is important to remember that subsidies may not cover the full cost of childcare, and there may be a waiting list at the daycare you have selected.

Q: Do you provide drop-in care?

A: We do not offer drop-in care because our teachers work diligently to create a stable and structured environment that promotes learning, development, and socialization. Drop-in care disrupts this environment and can be stressful for both the child and the teachers.

We strive to provide consistent and high-quality care for all our enrolled children and prioritize the stability and structure that comes with regular attendance.

Q: Are you a daycare center?

A: No, we are a child development center. A child development center and a daycare center both provide care for young children, but there are some differences between the two.

As a child development center, we offer a more structured and educational environment, with a focus on early childhood development and learning. Our curriculum and activities are designed to support a child’s cognitive, social, emotional, and physical growth.

On the other hand, a daycare center typically provides more basic care for children, such as feeding, diaper changing, and supervision, with less emphasis on education and development.

Q: Are meals provided?

A: Yes, we provide a nutritious breakfast, hot lunch, and afternoon snacks for all children in our care.

Q: What measures do you take to ensure the safety of the children?

A: We take the safety of the children in our care very seriously and have strict procedures in place to ensure their well-being. This includes secure entry systems, regular safety drills, and strict health and hygiene practices.

Q: What is the classroom teacher-to-student ratio?

A: According to North Carolina childcare laws, the enhanced teacher-to-student ratio (fewer students per teacher) depends on the age group of the children. The infant ratio is one teacher for five infants and one per six for toddlers. For children aged 2-3 years old, the ratio is 1 teacher to 9 children, for children aged 3-4 years old, the ratio is 1 teacher to 10 children, and for children aged 4-5 years old, the ratio is 1 teacher to 13 children. At Quality Childcare Northchase, we follow these state-enhanced ratios to ensure that every child receives individualized attention and care from our teachers. All rooms have at least two teachers and as more qualified teachers become available, we are striving to have three teachers per room.

Q: Do you offer part-time care?

A: We offer 5-days per week service. We do not currently have a 3-day-a-week program.

Q: What are your hours of operation?

A: We are open Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM

Q: What age groups do you serve?

A: We offer childcare services for infants as young as 8 weeks (about 2 months) old up to 5-years-old. We currently have an Infant, Waddler, Toddler, 2-year, 3-year, and 4-year room. We are looking for a teacher to oversee the Pre-K or NC Pre-K room that will be available soon.
